” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

Meet James Qwilleran, a nosey newspaper crime reporter thrust into a small town spotlight when his long-lost auntie leaves him millions, he keeps writing for the local rag and snooping around wherever he sees a story.

Written by Lillian Jackson Braun this detective series, as Agatha Christie did with the British upper crust, displays through each case the intricate attitudes and foibles of a certain section of humanity.

Her stories are funny, characters authentic, mix in a few plot twists and you have another classic hard/soft-boiled detective – who refuses to marry his longtime paramour/librarian because their cats don’t get along…

There are over two dozen books in the Cat Who. . . series

 From Wikipedia

The Cat Who… is a novel series of murder mystery novels by Lilian Jackson Braun. This series is called the “Cat Who…” series because each book title in this series begins with the words “The Cat Who. . .”.

“Cat Who…” books feature a reporter named James Qwilleran and his Siamese cats Kao K’o-Kung, Koko for short, and Yum-Yum. The first book in the series was written in 1966, with two more following in 1967 and 1968. Eighteen years passed until Jackson Braun published the next book in the series, and through 2007 a new “Cat Who…” title was published with some regularity. Lawrence Block once wrote in one of his Burglar books the rather facetious comment that the next book in the series ought to be entitled ‘The Cat Who Lived Forever’.
